BCCI recently announced the India A squad that will be travelling to Sri Lanka for two test matches and an ODI tri-series. Afghanistan will be the third team to play in the limited-overs tri-series. Left-hander Tilak Varma will lead the team while Riyan Parag will be the vice captain.

 The limited-overs tri-series will be played from the 9th of June, with the first match at Dambulla and the final on the 21st of June. The two test matches will be played after the ODI tri-series against Sri Lanka A at Galle. BCCI will announce the squad for the two-test series soon.

Teen sensation Vaibhav Sooryavanshi has been named in the limited-overs squad. The 15-year-old has so far scored 579 runs in 13 IPL innings in the 2026 season with an enormous strike rate of 232.32.

Left-arm spinner Anukul Roy has been included in the squad in place of Harsh Dubey, who has been included in the squad for the senior team for the upcoming test match and three-match ODI series against Afghanistan in June.

All-rounder Suryansh Shedge has been included in the squad alongside another upcoming batting sensation, Priyansh Arya. Abhishek Sharma and Ishan Kishan haven’t been included in the squad as the BCCI has opted to add fresh faces to give upcoming players a chance to showcase their talent ahead of the England tour in July.
